Should I tell you that you are being remembered or will you feel it yourself as a random sense of emptiness creeps into your heart out of nowhere? Shall I appear as the answer when you ask yourself the name of the sinking feeling in your stomach? Should I claim that the cause of your inner turmoil, the distress in your mind is me? How far do I travel to reach you?

2471.1 kilometres, a sea, and two countries apart, it shouldn't be that hard, but why can't I hold your hand when you stay closer than this rhythm of my heart? How long will you remain intangible? How long till this sacred secret becomes a story?

I hear your silence, loud and clear, all the time.

I hear you when you sip your morning coffee and when you lay your head on my shoulder while watching a movie. I hear your exhaustion when you sit quietly on the sofa after a long day and your encouragement when you give me a hug. I hear your flirting when you lace our fingers and snake your arm around my waist and I hear all your "good morning"s in your morning kisses. I hear you silently whispering "I missed you" when you kiss my forehead after I come home from work. I can hear your laughter when you smile. I hear you loud and clear, all the time.

I think if I try hard enough, one day I would be able to hold your silent void in my palms and caress it.

Love.. you have the most comforting silence I've ever known.

Vetiver and tobacco scented candles adorn your desk as you struggle to decide which new textbook to open first.

The smell of roasting coffee and chestnut in the street.

Local businesses hanging leaves and lights in their windows.

Children laughing in their school groups.

If you rise early enough, you see your breath for the first time in months.

Couples holding each other close in the park.

Your hair is lifted in the brisk air, bringing on the first shiver of the season and you miss your scarf.

The grocery store is decorated with pumpkins and sweets.

Your discount theater has an 80’s horror marathon.

Oranges decorated with cloves on the kitchen table.

Your shoulder hurts from your first week of the fall semester because you don’t know what you need to bring to class yet, so you brought everything.

Broken in boots, wool socks cable knit, Oxford cloth, and tweed.

Soup simmers, filling your little living space with its aromas.

Spearmint and cigarettes.

Pulling your blanket closer as the rain gets heavier & your book gets better.

The bookstore.

A feeling of renewal and prospect is lingering around every corner.

Autumn is when I wake.
